22nd September 2013, Dubai UAE – Honda Motor Co. (Middle East Office) announced the introduction of the new and refined 2014 Honda Odyssey. Available across all Honda showrooms in the GCC, the award-winning 2014 Honda Odyssey is a refreshing upgrade from its numerous existing features hence offering more value for money.

Since its launch in January 2011 as a 4th generation model, the Honda Odyssey has always strived to be off beat from the conventional MPV styling with its low and wide stance design. The new 2014 Honda Odyssey maintains its distinctive body design with various refinements such as a deeply sculpted hood, a bolder grille, darker-finish headlamp housings, new lower front fascia with chrome-trimmed fog lamps and enhanced pipe LED tail lights giving it a sophisticated and sporty appearance. For 2014, the Honda Odyssey continues with its successful model grade which includes the well-equipped base LX model, the leather trimmed EX-L and the feature packed Touring.

Some of the premium features standard on the 2014 Honda Odyssey EX-L & Touring grades, which have been designed specifically to keep the driver’s convenience in purview, are the Smart Entry System with Push Start/Stop button, the Honda LaneWatchTM with blind spot monitor for additional safety, and the 7-inch ODMD touch screen for more advance & easy to operate media controls. The new 2014 Honda Odyssey, with its refined distinctive exterior styling, continues its unique position in large MPV segment providing customers with a stylish and premium family car. Improved front fascia includes a more deeply sculpted 3D aluminum hood design, 2-layer bolder chrome grille paired with flash mounted chrome-trimmed fog lights and darker-finished headlamp housings with new headlight combination. The side profile of the new Odyssey will carry its 4th generation signature “lightning bolt” belt line with noticeable revised door side mirror and turn light indicator. The rear styling gets more defined with new solid red color light bar and rear deflectors matching with upscale pipe LED tail lights. Interior Styling and Functionality
In addition to its popular luxurious ambiance and spacious interior, the new Odyssey is upgraded with innovative media controls and functionality for the modern and well media-connected family. The dashboard is stylishly laid out with easy to understand controls and that are within easy reach to the driver. The 2014 Honda Odyssey interior encompasses sharp striking details and premium touches such as an upgraded meter illumination and interior lighting, chrome-trimmed dials and door handles, and a new 2-layer instrumental panel for EX-L and Touring grades. The new neat and organized center control panel is set up with upper 8-inch LCD for multi-information display and a lower 7-inch touch screen for synchronized media controls.

The generous interior of the new Odyssey provides, standard on all grades, three rows of comfortable seating which offers a wide range of versatility for all passengers and cargo. The wide 2nd row seats can be pulled apart from the center and accommodate a child seat with an option of sliding forward to tend the child. The wide 3rd row magic seats with plenty of legroom can be split to 60/40 to fit various combinations of cargo and passengers. The new Odyssey offers maximum standard comfort on all grades with 8-way power adjustable driver’s seat and the new available 4-way power adjustable for passenger seat. Standard on EX-L and Touring grades are top comfort and convenience features such as the tri-zone automatic air conditioner, leather seats & trim, power lumbar support for driver’s seat, beverage cooler box, integrated sunshades for 2nd & 3rd row seats, auto-dimming rearview mirror and conversation mirror.

Technology & Entertainment
The new 2014 Honda Odyssey offers more standard control and technology on all grades which include cruise control, Bluetooth® HandsFreeLink®, 8-inch full-color i-MID display, rearview camera (multi-view for Touring grade) and AUX & USB ports. A Honda Satellite-Linked Navigation System with Arabic text and voice guidance is available in Touring grade with high-resolution VGA color display and GPS technology to provide turn-by-turn guidance. Another exclusive feature for Touring is the state-of-the-art, factory-integrated Rear Entertainment System (RES) that includes an ultra-wide 16.2-inch flip-down LCD screen which can be split to play 2 media sources like DVD movie or radio. This comes with 12-speaker, premium sound system and HDMI port for modern game and media consoles.

Smart Entry & Push Start/Stop Button
New for 2014 model, the standard Smart Entry system in EX-L and Touring grade, offers maximum convenience for car entry and engine start. All without touching or holding the key, the system allows the driver to approach, open the door and start the engine with Start/Stop button. The system only requires the driver to have possession of the key fob. This is applicable to the front doors, the sliding doors and the tailgate.

Honda LaneWatchTM
The latest recognized Honda technology, recently built-in the new Accord and Crosstour, the Honda LaneWatchTM is now equipped both in EX-L and Touring grade. It provides live display on 8-inch LCD screen of the car’s blind spot area, also known as blind-spot monitor, for safer lane changing. The system uses a camera mounted at the bottom of passenger door mirror which could be activated by right turn indicator or one press of LaneWatchTM button, displays a live, 80-degree view of the passenger-side roadway, compared to 18- to 22-degrees typical of a standard door mirror.

7-inch ODMD (On Demand Media Distribution) touch screen
Standard on EX-L and Touring grade, this unique separate 7-inch ODMD touch screen reduces the traditional media buttons and integrates it all in one screen. The ODMD touch screen allows the driver or passenger to play different audio media sources from radio, CD, USB, AUX, Bluetooth, iPod, DVD and from 16GB HDD memory.

Dynamic performance & fuel efficiency always characterized the Honda Odyssey. It features an advanced 3.5-liter, 24-valve, SOHC, i-VTEC V-6 engine with Variable Cylinder Management (VCM) which helps conserve fuel when power is not required. The VCM Technology allows the engine to operate using only three or four of its six cylinders as conditions permit resulting to less fuel consumption and reduced emissions. Upgraded in 2014 model, the 6-speed automatic transmission is now standard on all grades, helps it achieve a best-in-class city/highway fuel-economy.

Chassis & Body
A long 3,000 mm wheelbase, wide track dimensions, advanced suspension design and features such as VSA with traction control contribute to the Odyssey’s excellent overall handling. The Odyssey’s hydraulic power-steering automatically increase the power assist at slow speeds, like while parking, and it also automatically reduces the power assist, like while on highway, so that the driver has more feedback.

Standard on the Odyssey LX and EX-L are 17-inch wheels, while 18-inch wheels are standard on the Odyssey Touring. The tires on all models feature low-rolling resistance construction to aid in maximizing fuel economy.

The new 2014 Honda Odyssey offers an extensive list of safety features, standard on all grades, applied in body structure, interior, child safety, while driving or actual impact. The Advanced Compatibility Engineering TM (ACETM) body structure, a Honda-exclusive body design enhances occupant protection and crash compatibility in frontal collisions.

Up to 5 positions for ISOFIX-LATCH child seats, secure children of large families and offers flexibility for larger cargo items. Inside the car, more safety features are installed including 3-point ELR seatbelts for 8 passengers, front active headrests, Occupant Position Detection System (OPDS), dual front airbags for driver and assistant, front side airbags and side curtain airbag system.

In addition to passive safety equipment, the Odyssey is also equipped with active safety features which help reduced human driving error with Honda’s technology including Honda LaneWatchTM, Vehicle Stability Assist (VSA) and Anti-lock Brake Assist (ABD) with Brake Assist (BA) and Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD).
